Day 17 – Favorite Minutes To Midnight Song [30 Days of Linkin Park]

<<< Day 16 <<<

Although the most popular(and I mean in the pop, mainstream sense) track on this album was “What I’ve Done”, and the most popular among fans(that I’ve seen) could be “Leave Out All the Rest“, mine would be:

Hands Held High

– Linkin Park

This is a pretty amazing song. It is a return to a Fort Minorstyle of rap for Mike. He tells a story-a very powerful story- about war.

Although I believe the setting is in Iraq/Afganistan, it can be related to many wars and many struggles. My favourite bit:

My brother had a book he would hold with pride

A little red cover with a broken spine

On the back, he hand-wrote a quote inside
When the rich wage war it’s the poor who die

This, I believe, is the first of the politically influenced lyrics of Linkin Park.
